Rooh Chaudhary

I stared at the moon and breathed out, after a minute I walked inside my room and saw my friend Aarohi using her phone and typing something 'must be talking to her bf' sensing my presence she looked at me and smiled "look at chaand" I said and took a sip from my cold coffee.

She ran towards the balcony and looked at chaand "hayye!" she exclaimed, I smiled looking at her back and sat on a nearby chair and opened my laptop to look at mails.

"What are you doing?" Aarohi asked me as she came back into the room "nothing, going through some mails" I said, and I saw her nodding.

I closed my laptop and leaned back and looked at the ceiling "what happened?" Aarohi asked, I shook my head and sipped my coffee and put the cup aside on the table "tell me, yaar, what happened?"

I moved my head toward her and stared at her "not getting any idea what to write now" I put my hand on my chin "write anything, I know anything you'll write is going to be a super duper hit as always" I smiled slightly at her and nodded "let's go to bed, tomorrow we have to attend a class" Aarohi agreed with me, and we both went to our bed, I laid down after muttering good night to Aarohi.

Aarohi and I have been best friends since 7th class, we fought a lot but never stayed away from each other, we motivate each other on bad days, making each other laugh.

Thinking all these things, I shut my eyes and fell into deep slumber.

"Wake up Rooh, it's morning" Aarohi yelled, I slowly opened my eyes and glanced here and there before stepping down from bed "good morning" I muttered, she greeted me back, I looked at her outfit and smiled "looking beautiful, hmm" I glanced at her from head to toe.

"Thank you" she smiled, I nodded and went to the bathroom, I took a cold shower and came back to the room, we both packed our bags and went to attend classes.

We both live in the hostel of the college with our other friends; Aarohi and I used to share rooms. We both entered our class, and after a few minutes, the professor also came and started teaching. It's our last year; after 2-3 months, exams will start, phew! After a few hours, he left, and we went to roam around the college.

"So, what will you do after college?" I asked Aarohi. "Nothing, maybe a job, I guess" she said, thinking about something.

I nodded, and we walked toward our group. "Hi everyone" I said, and everyone shook hands with each other.

"Tension hai exams ki?" Divya asked. Everyone shook their heads lazily; our whole group is like this – study the night before the exam and pass together.

"I think we should go somewhere today, right?" Everyone agreed and went to their rooms to change. We're 8 members in our group – me, Aarohi, Divya, Reva, Kanishk, Mahnoor, Agastya, and Aarush; others are our ex- seniors. I sat on the bed and waited for Aarohi to come; I picked up my phone and scrolled through mails, and my phone rang, showing 'Reva' calling me.

I picked up the call. "Where are you, yaar?" I picked up my bag, stood in front of the mirror, and checked myself. "Coming; Aarohi is still getting ready" Reva and others said something from the other side. "Okay, we're waiting" she said and hung up.

Aarohi too came and checked herself. "Nazar na lage" I said; she smiled at me and picked up her bag. We went towards our group. "It's not your wedding that you took this much time, Aarohi" Reva said to Aarohi, and they started fighting

“If you guys want to come, then don't argue now" Nidhi said, and after a few minutes, we left for the restaurant. "Ex-Seniors are also coming there" Agastya said, making everyone happy.

We started looking here and there to spot our ex-seniors as they waved towards us; we walked toward them and sat on empty chairs.

Everyone greeted each other; I looked at everyone with a smile. No one looked at me except someone's eyes – Abhimaan. I didn't dare to look at him; we both knew each other for so long, but I stopped talking eventually, and meeting face-to-face is... "Hello, how're you?" Hriday said, our senior and Abhimaan's friend.

I smiled widely at him and said, "Hey, I'm good. You?" He said, "All good." He smiled, making me nod, and everyone talked to each other while I listened.

I took out my phone as it vibrated; I looked at the messages and put it back in my pocket. "So, how's study going?" Nidhi, our senior, asked. "All good, I guess" Divya said, and Nidhi nodded.

"Let's order something" Hriday said, and everyone agreed. We ordered our food; I only ordered cold coffee as I didn't want to eat anything. "Rooh and her obsession with cold coffee" Aarohi said and showed thumbs up; everyone smiled at me.

After half an hour, we thought of going somewhere else; we were walking and talking. "Don't you think we should plan a trip?" Aarush said. "Don't forget exams are near" I said, making everyone sad.

After exams

Today was the last exam; everyone was happy but also sad that we wouldn't be able to meet each other like this now. I saw Aarohi chatting with her boyfriend.

"Pack your bags, Aarohi; talk to him later" I said, and she sat on the bed with a smile on her face, I mean, a blush. "Hmm, blushing?" I said while packing my bag; I glanced at her, and she blushed even more. I shook my head. "Pack your bags, Aarohi" I said again, and she started packing her bags.

"I saw Abhimaan looking at you" As she mentioned his name, my heart skipped a beat. I nodded without looking at her. "You still like him?" She asked. I hummed in response. "Itna pyaar kyun karti ho usse, yaar?" She whined in the end. "Pyaar sochkar nahi kiya jata; bass ho jata hai" I chuckled softly.

She didn't say anything after that; silently packed her bag. Tomorrow, everyone's family was coming to pick them up. We didn't talk after that and slept until the next morning didn't come; sunrays peeped through the window. I stretched my body and went to take a shower.

I reached my home after saying bye to everyone. "Mumma, I'm back" As she listened to my voice, she came towards me. I looked at her, smiled, and touched her feet. "How are you?" I asked. "Fine" she said. "Papa?" I said. "He's in his room" I nodded and went to his room; looking at me, he smiled genuinely. "How was your exam?" he asked, and I told him about my exams. I talked to them for hours and went to my room and started working on my laptop.
